Day 1 Uros – Amantani Homestay
This morning, depart your hotel with your guide and drive to the port. Travel by motorboat to the Uros floating islands which feel like water beds but are safe to walk on so no worries. Explore the island and spend time with the locals learning how they make the islands, boats, homes, and more of the totora reeds which are plentiful along the edges of the lake. Take an optional short ride on the reed boats. After a great time, we continue on a 3-hour motorboat ride to Amantani. Upon our arrival, we will be greeted by our host family. Enjoy a typical lunch with your host family made from natural products. Then you may participate in an optional football match with the locals and a hike to the high point of the island to watch the sunset. After dinner, your Amantani host family will dress you up in traditional local costumes and take you to the community hall for a small celebration dancing and listening to Andean music. A great way to live and experience their culture at Lake Titicaca.

The men exclusively knit while the women spin wool and use vegetables and minerals to dye the wool to be used by the community. However, the women weave Chumpis, the wide belts with woven designs worn by everyone in the community of Taquile.
